SLUMS: The St. Louis University Mental Mental Status Examination - Free Product from St. Louis University Medical School

The SLUMS is a method of screening for dementia, mild cognitive impairment, and other cognitive disorders.   To some extent, it was designed as an alternative screening test to the widely used Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE).

The SLUMS consists of 11 items, and measures aspects of cognition that include orientation, calculation, naming (animals) recognition of geometric figures and short term memory.  The SLUMS takes approximately seven minutes to administer. Scores range from 0 to 30.

Instructions and scoring are included in this product as is a Spanish version provided by Armando Hernandez, PhD.
